WhatsApp is building a strong feature set to protect its users and this doesn’t even include the end-to-end encryption standard that keeps your chats secure. Now, the messaging app is making sure that WhatsApp Group scams don’t catch you cold and inform people about the Group request they get with details before they decide to join them.
WhatsApp Groups are a source of connecting with your friends, family and even work colleagues. Heck, you even create a group for any group vacation or a dinner event planned. But there are instances when you get a random WhatsApp group invite notification and you end up joining it without exactly knowing who sent it and what it is about.
WhatsApp says that new Group invites from now will come with more information about the Group, which includes the person who has sent the request and the nature of making you join the Group. As you can see in the image below, the details are clear and even the context of the group invite.
“If you’re added to a group by someone you don’t know, you’ll now see a context card giving you more information about the group. This includes who added you, how recent the group was created, and who created it,” WhatsApp has highlighted in its FAQ page.
Group scams are just another form of attacks that millions can be victim to on the messaging app, so it is good to see WhatsApp bring these measures over the next few weeks. “From there, you can decide whether to stay or leave the group, and review some of the safety tools available to stay safe and secure on WhatsApp,” the messaging app informs
That’s not all, WhatsApp has introduced Meta AI for most of its users, including those in India recently. Using the Llama 3-powered AI chatbot you can create images, get recipes for your favourite food and even take AI’s help to plan your next vacation itinerary.
