The child was born in the Community Health Center under Ramnagar in West Champaran district.

A child was born on Wednesday in Ramnagar block of West Champaran district in Bihar, whose eyes were covered with flesh. The child’s body was covered with a thick white crust, whereas the teeth are visible inside the gums. Different from the normal birth, the spectators tried to compare the appearance of the child with an alien. The exact cause for this abnormality has not been explained by the doctors. They have called this anomaly a result of Congenital Deformity. The child was born in the Community Health Center under Ramnagar in West Champaran district. It is being told that Reema Devi, wife of Rajesh Musahar, a resident of Khataura village of Khatauri Panchayat of Ramnagar, gave birth to the child of Congenital Deformity. The entire body of the child is covered with a thick white crust. Apart from this, the newborn has teeth in the gums.

After witnessing the condition of the newborn, the child has been referred to Bettiah GMCH for better treatment. The child has not been admitted to GMCH till Thursday, July 1. Medical Officer of Ramnagar PHC, IC Dr Chandra Bhushan said that this newborn has symptoms of congenital deformity. “It is called congenital deformity because the newborn has no skin on his body and birth teeth have come out. This disease is very rare. In other words, such cases are seen in only one child out of millions.” said Dr Chandra Bhushan in an interview.

A congenital deformity, also known as a birth defect, is a physical abnormality or health problem that is present before or at birth. These deformities can affect the size or shape of a body part. It can be major or minor. Some congenital deformities can be treated with surgical or non-surgical options.

About 3-4 percent of babies are born with some type of birth defect, which can be life-threatening sometimes. Some congenital deformities have no obvious cause, but others may be linked to maternal health factors such as diabetes, smoking, alcohol consumption, infections, or exposure to high temperatures. Avoiding alcohol, cigarettes, recreational drugs and consuming folic acid during pregnancy can be considered preventive measures for curbing congenital deformities in newborns.
