Mumbai Man Shares Why Vistara Took Off As Country’s Favourite Airline in Fitting Farewell
“Vistara is one of those rare products where brand identity, experience overlap in perfect harmony,” said a Mumbai resident amid Air India-Vistara merger.

As Vistara prepares to merge with Air India on November 11, a wave of nostalgia has swept through the Indian aviation industry. The airline, known for its exceptional brand identity and customer experience, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. As the bookings will be redirected to the Air India website from November 12, an individual took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to bid farewell to the country’s favourite airline.

Devaiah Bopanna, a Mumbai resident, expressed, “Vistara is one of those rare products where brand identity and brand experience overlap in perfect harmony.”

Bopanna praised the airline’s distinctive purple hue, the in-flight rock album playlist, and the overall sense of calm that helps create a truly memorable journey. He went on to say that Vistara can create a premium experience, even in its regular economy class: “From its headrest to the cushioning to its nomenclature, everything was thought through, making one feel at ease in the skies.”

“They created a foolproof, uncancellable, and beloved brand in a category that is the toughest in which to achieve any sort of love or loyalty. I know of friends who didn’t mind paying a thousand more because it’s Vistara. The ‘former Bangalore boy’ concluded, “It’s sad that this brand is now sailing into the sunset, but it will be remembered as one of the few brilliant brands built by India in a short span of time.”

Vistara shared a response to this fitting farewell, saying, “We’re truly humbled by the love, Devaiah! It’s been a pleasure to create an experience that resonated in the way we always hoped it would – with subtlety, care, and comfort. The memories made will hold a special place in our heart. We’re grateful to have been part of yours.”

Here’s how others reacted to Air India-Vistara merger:

“I’m not ready for a post-Vistara world,” expressed an individual.

Another added, “One of those fine airline which I was an absolute fan of. Even at economy prices they gave you feel of biz travel with their smacking food & ‘internet’ with bunch load of movies to watch, also the option to fix your phone on the seat & charge it while watching. Thank you Vistara.”

“I second this purple theory. And I subconsciously related to it when I flew with Batik airlines. Felt really nice for some reason. Also, their seats/cushions being better quality like Vistara might have added a bit to that feeling,” wrote a third.
