Bizarre food experiments continue to achieve a new level with every passing day. From Oreo Maggie to Rasgulla Chaat, culinary enthusiasts have already invented several unorthodox amalgamations. While some of them were immediately labelled as unacceptable, a few became an instant hit among foodies for their unusual yet good taste. Now, a Kolkata-based street vendor has come up with another shocking food combo called ‘Biryani Momo’.

As the name suggests, the dish comes as a fusion of two of the most popular Indian delicacies– chicken biryani and momo. A food vlogger endorsing a page named Haomaokhao vlogs first brought this food item to light through a video on Instagram.

People who have ever visited the City of Joy must know about the uniqueness of biryani here. This is the only place in India where people can find potatoes in non-veg biryani. It certainly adds an extra taste to the aromatic rice. But how would it taste if someone put the famous Kolkata biryani inside momos? This is exactly what the new dish is all about. The food combo going viral by the name of ‘Biryani Momo’ has chicken biryani stuffed inside simple dumplings.

“Kolkata’s First-Time Biryani Momo. Yes! You Heard It Right! A New Concept Introduced By Momo Chayee,” the Kolkata-based food vlogger wrote in the caption of his Instagram post. The widely viral clip opens at a roadside food stall where a woman could be seen selling a variety of fusion momos.

As the vlogger asked for their latest creation, he was offered a plate full of biryani momos along with a glass of chicken soup. According to the influencer, one plate of biryani momo costs Rs 120.

Since being dropped on Instagram, the video has received more than 1 million views on Instagram, while garnering over 32,000 likes. It seems some viewers found it quite interesting as they asked the vlogger to share the address of the shop. However, there were users, who slammed the vendor for the weird combination. A user feels the dish has “Destroyed the whole ethnicity of momo as well as biryani.” Another commented, “Maida coated Biryani? No thanks.”
