Lala, who lived in a small Japanese village, enjoyed living in a comfortable home, with an air-conditioned room and freely wandering the streets.

Penguins have a special charm that attracts many with their adorable appearance and playful antics. However, keeping them as pets is quite rare due to various challenges associated with their specific needs and natural habitat requirements. Yet, a Japanese family supported this unusual choice and decided to keep one of these beloved creatures as their pet. Their unique decision caught global attention and journalists worldwide wanted to interview the family. In the 90s, Real TV got the opportunity to make a documentary about the penguin, named LaLa, who lived in a small Japanese village. Shot in 1996 when the creature was approximately 10-year-old, the documentary shed light on his unique lifestyle. LaLa, the King penguin, enjoyed living in a comfortable home, with air-conditioned room, freely wandering the streets of his town and eating his favourite fish.

The nostalgic video featuring LaLa’s daily adventure has taken social media by storm. The footage shows the family’s innovative decision to give LaLa a tiny backpack, teaching him to independently visit the local market for fish. His routine includes a stop at a fish shop, where he enjoys his preferred fish. With his stomach filled with fresh catch, LaLa also takes another treat home in his backpack. According to the fish seller featured in the video, Sardines and mackerel rank high among LaLa’s favourite fish. The old video was recently shared by Instagram page, Struhk Media. They wrote, “LaLa walked everyday into town by himself with a backpack and collected fish from the local fish market. Unfortunately he passed away in 1998.”

Soon after the video was shared, it went viral and garnered over 2 million views. Social media users worldwide are loving LaLa’s calm behaviour and showering him with positive comments.

A user wrote, “HE HAS A PINGU BACKPACK IM CRYING.”

Another wrote, “He chill asf, I would hang out with him.”

“This is the life I want. A small penguin in a big world. Will I see everything and experience anything? Who knows? Just my two webbed feet and the open road,” a comment read.

An individual shared, “What a respectable gentleman.”

One more added, “What an icon.”

As per reports, LaLa found his way into the Nishimoto family’s home after a fisherman discovered him entangled in a fishing net. He was found injured, in his beak and wing. After the fisherman’s return from his fishing excursion, he took the injured bird to the Nishimoto family and they wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to taking care of LaLa. Throughout this period, a special bond formed between LaLa and his human family. Despite regaining his health, the penguin wasn’t ready to part ways and he stayed with them until his passing in 1998.
