In a world where emotions have taken a backseat and people are inclined towards the practical approach, a compelling story is grabbing everyone’s eyeballs. A Malaysian woman, who is the daughter of a renowned business tycoon, left nearly Rs 2,500 crore inheritance to follow her heart. Choosing love over luxury, she defied everyone’s expectations and her extraordinary choice has made people learn what true love looks like. The remarkable tale of the Malaysian woman who forgoes enormous wealth and opts for a less-travelled path comes as the most heartwarming news for all.
Angeline Francis is the daughter of entrepreneur Khoo Kay Peng and former Miss Malaysia Pauline Chai, who is Malaysia’s 44th richest person. Khoo Kay is the director of Corus Hotels. Angeline, to wed her partner, left behind her $300 million (about Rs 2,484 crore) family fortune. Her family disapproved of Jedidiah Francis whom she wanted to marry.
Angeline allegedly fell in love with Jedidiah while studying at Oxford University. Due to the disparity in their income, the woman’s father did not approve of her relationship with Jedidiah. Following the disapproval, she decided to begin a new life with her partner. The couple got married in 2008 and since then, they have been living apart from their family.
It was only during her parents’ divorce that Angeline was forced to confront her father to testify in court. While highlighting that her mother put efforts into maintaining the family unit and her father was away generating income, she also expressed her hope that they would reunite soon.
Malaysian heiress Angeline Francis proved that “love conquers all” as she refused a life of luxury and cherished the priceless necessities and emotions like love and togetherness.
However, it is not the first time that anyone has chosen to forgo a lot for love. In 2021, Japan’s Princess Mako did not think twice before giving up her title to marry Kei Komuroa who was her college lover and came from a common background. Interestingly, Princess Mako is the niece of the Japanese emperor.
