Nearing 100, Oldest Ex-US President Jimmy Carter's Birthday Wish Is to Vote for Kamala Harris
Jimmy Carter, 99, is eager to vote for Kamala Harris on his 100th birthday. Despite his health, he plans to use a mail-in ballot for the November election

Jimmy Carter, the oldest living former US president, will celebrate his 100th birthday on October 1. However, it’s not just reaching the milestone that’s on his mind.

According to his grandson, Jason Carter, the 99-year-old former president is focused on casting his vote for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.

Jason Carter shared that his grandfather, who has been in hospice care since February 2023, is more concerned about the November 5 election than his centennial birthday. Despite his declining health, Carter’s enthusiasm for the political process remains strong.

“I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris,” Jason quoted his grandfather as saying, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Carter, who served as president from 1977 to 1981 and is known for his work as a peanut farmer, is deeply engaged in current political issues, including the war in Gaza.

According to the New York Post, his grandson noted that Carter’s focus is on Harris’s candidacy rather than simply reaching his 100th birthday. Carter is expected to cast his ballot shortly after his birthday, with Georgia’s early voting period starting on October 15. This aligns with his plans to use a mail-in ballot due to his advanced age and health concerns.
