Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has stretched its metro services’ hours beyond the usual 11 pm deadline, ensuring cricket fans’ safe return after late-night matches.

Now, the metro will operate till 1 am.

CMRL revealed this update via a post on social media, noting the upcoming IPL match at Chepauk Stadium on March 26, 2024, at 7:30 pm.

The extension aims to accommodate fans attending the thrilling clash between Chennai Super Kings (CKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT), as reported by Times Now.

Anticipating a rush of fans post-match, CMRL advises supporters to plan their journey home beforehand. They’re urged to purchase return or round-trip tickets in advance, either online or at ticket counters, to avoid queues at stations.

For added convenience, CMRL has set up assistance centers at Government Estate Metro and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro Station. Single journey tickets are available at flat rates of Rs 40 and Rs 50, respectively, allowing exit at any station within the metro network.

While train services commence from Government Estate Metro Station towards Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro Station, commuters can interchange to the Green Line (towards Anna Nagar, Koyambedu) at the latter station only, as per metro authorities.
