The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the winners of their annual awards after a span of four years. The cricket presented the awards to the Indian cricketers for their excellence in the past four years in a ceremony in Hyderabad. The Indian cricket team players were present at the ceremony alongside England head coach Brendon McCullum as the two sides will lock horns on January 25 in the opening match of the five-match Test series.
McCullum was accompanied by Paul Collingwood and a few other members of the England cricket team in Hyderabad.
After skipping the awards ceremony for the last four years, the BCCI decided to present the awards for each they missed.
Legendary cricketers Farokh Engineer and Ravi Shastri were presented with the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Awards.
The two cricketers got the prestigious award for their services to Indian cricket.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill won the Polly Umirgar Award for the best cricketer in the 2022-23 season. The young cricketer had a memorable 12 months when he became the fastest to cross the 2000-run mark in ODIs and also scored five hundreds in the format.
All-rounder Deepti Sharma bagged the best women’s cricketer award for the last season. She also won the same award for the 2019-20 calendar year.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah also received the Polly Umirgar Awards for the past years when the ceremony wasn’t held.
