The Delhi Capitals will face defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening match of WPL 2024 which will also be the rematch of last year’s finale. DC played dominant cricket last season during the league stages as they finished as table-toppers and secured the spot in the finals.
The inaugural season was held entirely in Mumbai.
However, in the finals, the side was beaten by the Mumbai Indians as Nat Sciver-Brunt took the game away from the Capitals to secure the maiden WPL title.
How Delhi Capitals Fared in WPL 2023?
The Delhi Capitals were a force to be reckoned with during the league stages of the inaugural edition of the WPL in 2023. The side managed to top the group stages under the leadership of the Australian Meg Lanning. In the eight games played the side managed to pick up six wins and 2 losses as they made it directly to the finals of the competition. Meg Lanning finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer while Shikha Pandey finished as the side’s highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets in the nine games played.

Delhi Capitals at WPL Auction
The Delhi Capitals have kept their core team and didn’t have too much to do in the auction ceremony. With a total of 15 players, including 5 foreigners, they decided to retain the core team after their impressive show in WPL 2023. They also added the likes of Annabel Sutherland the Australian all-rounder along with wicketkeeper-batter Aparna Mondal and all-rounder Aswani Kashyap to the squad.
