Manchester United have already completed several deals during the ongoing January transfer window, with star players like Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek leaving the club on loan. Now, the Old Trafford hierarchy is reportedly set to show the exit door to an emerging midfielder, Daniel Gore.
The 19-year-old has previously captained the Manchester United U-19 side in the UEFA Youth League triumph back in 2021. Impressed by his performance, team boss Erik Ten Hag called Gore up for the training. He has mostly warmed the bench for the Red Devils this season after making his senior team debut as a substitute during a Carabao Cup match against Crystal Palace.
According to a report by Daily Mail, Gore might join EFL League One side Port Vale for the rest of the season as the Manchester United officials want to give the youngster regular game time in competitive action. Several other third-tier outfits like Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town and Fleetwood Town were also reportedly interested in signing Gore this winter but Port Vale looks set to seal the deal.
Upon the arrival of Gore, the Burslem-based club is expected to better their position in the EFL League One standings. They are currently 18th in the points table, having managed 8 victories in 25 games. Gore has been a constant on Manchester United’s bench this season. However, the club authority has accepted the loan move by considering his future, Daily Mail reports.
Daniel Gore joined the Manchester United youth team from Burnley back in 2018. Though he has made only two appearances for Erik Ten Hag’s side as a substitute, the English prodigy has raised eyebrows with his defensive quality and ball-holding ability in training sessions. He was also bestowed the captaincy during a friendly against Wrexham ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Gore failed to complete the match as he was sent off a few minutes after the break due to an altercation with Andy Cannon. This, however, did not stop him from receiving Manchester United’s Reserve Player of the Year award.
Last year, Gore found himself in a tricky situation after attempting a dangerous foul on forward Anthony Martial at the club’s Carrington training ground. The matter was resolved soon after the coaching staff warned the youngster that such tackles were a strict no in practice. Martial, who had lashed out at Gore for the harsh foul, later made sure to apologise to him.
