New Delhi: FIFA President Sepp Blatter has reiterated that he is confident South Africa will be ready to host the 2010 World Cup.
Blatter met with the local organising committee led by Danny Jordaan and CAF President Issa Hayatou, who has been appointed by FIFA to monitor preparations, before declaring that Africa would be ready to host its first World Cup.
South Africa won the rights to host the 2010 World Cup three years ago. But since then it has been dogged by worries about delays in stadium and infrastructure construction, lack of public transport, and high crime rate.
"The World Cup in South Africa will deliver the best ever World Cup in the history. It will not be the same as it was in Germany or in Japan or Korea, but it will be the best ever because it will be an African World Cup," Blatter said.
