According to a report in The Daily Mirror, former Chelsea star Didier Drogba visited Chelsea's Cobham training ground last Monday and spoke to Mourinho. It is believed that Mourinho is keen on signing 35-year-old Drogba for this season, but Chelsea would have to approach his current club Galatasaray.
If the Turkish giants will not let him go or Drogba wants to see out the final year of his contract then Mourinho will offer him a role at Chelsea in 12 months. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich tried to re-sign Drogba in January and could welcome the former Marseille man back to the club in any capacity.
Earlier, talking about his potential return to Chelsea, Drogba said: "It would be nice, not just coaching but to help the club. "For Chelsea I gave everything and, of course, they gave it back to me. I feel at home when I go to London."
Last week, Mourinho spoke about the influence Drogba could have on his squad. He said: "I can use Didier as a profile to persuade youngsters to follow me because he followed me from day one."
Mourinho signed Drogba for Chelsea in 2004 and the Ivory Coast international scored 157 goals for the club over eight years.
