Athens: Argentine striker Javier Saviola has signed a two-year deal to play in Greece with defending champion Olympiakos.
The club said late on Wednesday that the 31-year-old former Barcelona and Real Madrid player reached the agreement after meeting team officials.
Hundreds of fans gathered outside the club building and were greeted by Saviola who emerged from the meeting wearing a red-and-white club scarf.
It was first major signing during the summer break for a league that has seen many of its top players move abroad as the country continues to suffer through financial crisis.
