Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, who met with a life-threatening accident and has been sustained by his family at their home in Switzerland, reportedly made his first public appearance since the horrendous accident during his daughter’s wedding last week.
Michael’s daughter, Gina tied the knot with her boyfriend Iain Bethke at the Schumacher family’s villa in the Spanish island of Mallorca. Michael was reportedly at the happy occasion to bless the union.
Michael suffered a horrendous skiing accident while enjoying the activity at the Alps back in the year 2013. He hasn’t been spotted in public since.
Schumacher’s family lawyer later stated that the family had decided not to reveal the driver’s health status due to privacy reasons.
The lawyer, Felix Damm, stated “It was always about protecting private things. We considered whether a final report about Michael’s health could be the right way to do this.”
“But that wouldn’t have been the end of it and there would have had to be constantly updated ‘water level reports’ and it would not have been up to the family when the media interest in the story stopped,” Damm clarified.
“The media could pick up on such a report again and again and as ‘and what does it look like now?’ one, two, three months or years after the message,” he continued.
“If we then wanted to take action against this reporting, we would have to deal with the argument of voluntary self-disclosure,” he added.
