Register your car, motorcycle, truck or trailer with the state of Georgia, if your vehicle is not presently registered. In some cases, those registering for the first time must do so in person at a County Tag Office. Provide a valid driver's license and proof of ownership, insurance, inspection and residency when registering your vehicle in Georgia for the first time.

Obtain Form MV-9B from a local DMV office or download and print the form from. Form MV-9B is an application to request a personalized license plate in Georgia. Be sure to read all instructions on the form before filling it out.
Write in all required information. This includes name, address, contact information and county of residence.
Fill in your 3 choices on the form. Check if you are requesting personalized license plates for a passenger vehicle or a motorcycle. You will have to record what each request means in the box beside each entry. Place your requests in order starting with the one you want most, as the first entry which is available will be assigned to you.
Sign the completed application. Be sure to include your driver's license number.
Mail or bring the form in person to a nearest County Tag Office.
Include a check or money order for applicable charges and fees. Make checks payable to the Office of the Tax Commissioner. Note that standard registration fees apply in addition to personalized license plate fees. A one-time manufacturing fee of $35 must be included.
