There are numerous distinctive locations around the world, and one such remarkable place can be found in Kanha Shanti Vanam in the Nandigama Mandal of Ranga Reddy district, Telangana. Kanha Shanti Vanam is home to various wonders and there is a central structure resembling a wheel, positioned in front of a Buddha statue, encircled by lines.
Standing at the centre of this place and producing any sound results in the sound reverberating back to us ten times, accompanied by the sensation of someone whispering in our ear. It is truly a remarkable achievement to have constructed such a magnificent structure.
Kanha Shanti Vanam, situated approximately 50 kilometres away from Hyderabad, is surrounded by lush greenery and houses libraries containing a wide variety of books. Interestingly, in Kanha, the road was designed to wind through the landscape, requiring the removal of many trees. However, they made an effort to preserve the environment by transporting and replanting large trees, including coconut trees from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which were originally uprooted during road widening projects in those states.
Described as an “ecological paradise,” this ashram functions as an immersive spiritual retreat centre, allowing guests to adopt a humble lifestyle in sync with both their inner selves and the natural world around them. Kanha has garnered significant recognition over the years, earning prestigious honours like ‘The Pride of Telangana’ award and the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum award for its unwavering dedication to top-tier environmentally sustainable practices. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the world’s first meditation centre to achieve this prestigious recognition.
As per Padma Bhushan awardee Kamlesh Patel, who is recognised as Daaji and serves as the global guide for the Heartfulness Movement, the inception of this retreat stemmed from the desire to establish a meditation haven that could bring people together in unity. The strategically chosen location, with its convenient access from the GMR Hyderabad International Airport, appeared to be the perfect setting for conducting retreats, welcoming individuals not only from India but also from all corners of the globe.
