CPM Idukki district secretary K K Jayachandran MLA, was questioned by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the murder of Youth Congress leader Anchery Baby, at Munnar on Wednesday.
Jayachandran who appeared before the SIT around 9.45 am was questioned for about three hours under the supervision of K Padmakumar, IG, Ernakulam range.
Speaking to reporters, Jayachandran said that he had told the SIT whatever he knew. Padmakumar said that with the questioning of Jayachandran, the first phase of the investigation was over.
The next course of action would be decided after examining the statements given by the CPM leaders M M Mani, O G Madanan and A K Damodaran who have already been questioned by the SIT.
Jayachandran arrived at the venue flanked by Devikulam MLA S Rajendran, former MLA Sundaramanikkam, and party leaders T N Manoharan, M Laxmanan, M V Sasikumar and other party workers.
The questioning took place in the backdrop of the Supreme Court rejecting former CPM district secretary M M Mani’s plea challenging further investigation into cases which were settled by the courts years ago.
Jayachandran was the Rajakkad local committee secretary when Anchery Baby was shot dead.
