BHUBANESWAR: Two anti-socials hurled a bomb in the busy Siripur market to terrorise a local contractor, who has taken up road renovation work, sending shock waves in the area. Two traders were injured in the bomb attack and given medical attention. The criminals fled the spot. One of them is identified as Makara Maharana who was in jail till recently. Preliminary investigation suggested that Makara wanted a cut from the contractor. The anti-social had apparently met the market committee secretary on Saturday and conveyed his intention. When Makara got a reply in the negative, he is believed to have resorted to the terror tactics. The incident has also brought to the fore how small-time criminals like Makara - earlier booked on theft and burglary charges - have mustered enough courage to foray into extortion business in the City. Khandagiri Police are yet to arrest anyone in this connection.8 HELD FOR CLASH: Eight persons were arrested after a group clash at the Giridurga Market under Kharavela Nagar Police limits on Saturday night.
