HYDERABAD: The American Telugu Association (ATA) plans a series of activities in Andhra Pradesh in connection with the 12th ATA biennial convention to be organised at Atlanta in the United states of America from July 6 to 8 next year. ATA conducts mega conferences once in every two years in various cities of North America, attracting 8,000 to 15,000 visitors.
A team of 15 ATA delegates came here to oversee the ATA Vedukalu which will be held here from December 10 to 15. A health camp will be held at Kalva Srirampur village, scholarships distributed at Gangaram and a seminar on overseas education and cultural programmes _ all in Karimnagar district on December 10. On the following day, ie December 11, a 5 K Run will be organised on the Necklace Road in Hyderabad to create awareness on child nutrition and traffic safety. Tshirts will be supplied free of cost to the participants.On December 12, a seminar on agriculture will be held at Mylavaram in Krishna district.

Agricultural scientists will interact with farmers and clear their doubts on cotton, paddy and mango crops. Distribution of scholarships to students and pensions to the aged and physicallyhandicapped, and inauguration of an ATA sponsored degree college constructed with Rs 5 crore donated by Lakkireddy Hanuma Reddy will follow.

Karunakar R Madhavaram (ATA presidentelect), Balvanth Kommidi (ATA Vedukalu cochairman), Padmaja Reddy (cultural wing), and Narotham Reddy (finance ) briefed the press on the details of events. They said they were planning to set up a legal cell to settle the divorce cases and social issues.
