For this terminally-ill boy, the dream of becoming a fighter pilot comes true
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, met with Chandan, the 14-year-old terminally ill boy along with his father Girish Mandal in New Delhi on Friday.

Ambala/New Delhi: For 14-year-old Chandan, who is terminally ill with cancer, it was a dream come true - thanks to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Delhi-based NGO Uday Foundation. On his birthday on Thursday, as a part of his gift, he was made to wear the full uniform of an IAF fighter pilot, reported to the base chief at the Ambala Air Force station, took lessons in a simulator and then moved on to a real cockpit.

At the end of the day, he was awarded a flight certificate. He also visited the IAF's war memorial and museum. All this happened on his 14th birthday.

On Friday, Chandan met Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha. He was accompanied by his father Girish Mandal after 'earning' his wings at Air Force Station Ambala.

Chandan, who hails from Bihar, is fighting against bone cancer. He always dreamt of being a fighter pilot but his dreams went crashing when he was told that he was diagnosed with cancer.

However, he got an opportunity to live out his dream. The soldiers at the base commended Chandan on his battle and said they were amazed at his zest for life and how he's fighting for his life.

What's your reaction?
