The farmers in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh will get a compensation package of over Rs 115 crore for the damage caused to the soybean crop in 2012-2013, a senior official said on Sunday.

"Because of heavy rains and floods in 2012-2013, soybean crop was badly damaged following which the district administration had conducted a survey and sent a proposal to the state government for compensation," Harda Collector Rajnish Shrivastava said.

The government has sanctioned Rs 115.24 crore, he said, adding Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will personally hand over relief cheques to the farmers at a function in Harda on February 5.

Deputy Director, Agriculture, B R Lokhande said that soybean crop in 1.75 lakh hectare area in the district was damaged due to heavy rains and floods in 2012-13.
