PUDUCHERRY: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, on Tuesday, faced the people’s ire as he reached  Abhishegapakkam, where people protested and complained about the inadequacy of relief efforts of the government agencies and indifferent attitude of the officials. As his convoy passed through a small junction of the area to TN Palayam, the residents organised themselves and tried to stage a road blockade, but police officials led by rural Superintendent of Police Deivasigamani and inspector Cintha Kodandaraman persuaded them  to keep to the sides of the road.As his convoy returned, the people rushed to his vehicle. Chidambaram alighted from his vehicle and gave a patient hearing and inquired what they exactly wanted.A representative of people, Thamizhmagan, informed him about the inadequacy of the relief measures and the indifferent attitude of the officials.  He urged the home minister to provide ‘whatever relief’ was available and stressed that it should be distributed to all.Earlier, Thamizhmagan told reporters that no camp was set up in the area as part of the relief measures undertaken by the authorities and the food packets were also not distributed to them.
