House surgeon roughed up

BURLA: Tension ran high on the premises of VSS Medical on Wednesday night after an attendant of a patient roughed up a house surgeon. The incident occurred after the patient died allegedly due to medical negligence.The attendant, identified as Binay Kumar Naik (25) of Chatabar village under Jamankira police limits, has been arrested and investigation is on.Reports said Naik had admitted his deaf and dumb brother Tanaya Kumar Naik (22) in the medicine ward on Wednesday evening. However, around midnight Tanaya’s condition deteriorated and Naik approached the house surgeon on duty Narendra Kumar Das. Sources said by the time the house surgeon arrived, Tanaya died. This left Naik infuriated and he allegedly roughed up Das.Soon after, students thronged the hospital and sensing flare up of the situation, Burla police arrested Naik to restore normalcy.
