The IAS officers of various districts often visit government-run schools to inspect their conditions. In such a development, District Collector TS Chetan recently visited a school to share his valuable advice for the betterment of the students. He mentioned in an interview that every school should have eco-clubs to teach students the importance of the environment. He also inspected the quality of the food provided to the students under the Mid-day meal scheme. The school, Zilla Parishad High School, is located in the Peddapalli village of Andhra Pradesh. He explained the importance of this scheme to the staff of the school and also reviewed every aspect of it.
“This is a central government scheme and is implemented in all the states and union territories to ensure that poor children do not stop attending school due to poverty. Under this scheme, the students are provided with free meals on school days. The main objectives of the scheme are to keep children away from hunger, increase school enrollment and attendance, foster a sense of social equality among children, and reduce nutritional deficiencies,” said TS Chetan.
The Andhra Pradesh Government has reportedly renamed the midday meal scheme. Formerly, it was known by the name Jagananna Goru mudda, while presently it is known as Dokka Seethamma Madhyana Badi Bhojanam. The scheme ensures nutritious meals for all students. While conducting the inspection, he also instructed the headmaster to maintain cleanliness around the cooking area and reviewed the menu of the week.
The weekly menu is as follows:
Monday: Vegetable Pulao, Egg Curry, Peanut Jaggery Chikki
Tuesday: Pulihora, Ivy Gourd Chutney, Boiled Egg, Ragi Java
