The investigating agency said that without sanctions from the Home Ministry, the court will not take cognizance of their chargesheet.
New Delhi: Days before Narendra Modi is sworn in as the Prime Minister, the Central bureau of Investigation has sought the Centre's approval to prosecute former Intelligence Bureau Special Director Rajinder Kumar and three serving IB officers in the Ishrat Jahan case.
The investigating agency said that without sanctions from the Home Ministry, the court will not take cognizance of their chargesheet. The BJP had slammed the CBI's efforts to prosecute the IB officials saying that the officials were collateral victims of the Centre's political vendetta against the Modi government in Gujarat.
Earlier in reply to a petition, the CBI had said that it has no prosecutable evidence against Modi aide Amit Shah in the case.
