BHUBANESWAR: Despite tall claims about streamlining the examination system, ITI question papers were leaked and sold in the City.On Tuesday morning, hours before the examination for Engineering Drawing paper for Electrician trade under All India Trade Test (AITT) started, the question paper was leaked. The State Council for Technical Education and Vocation Training (SCTEVT), which conducts the examination in the State, cancelled the examination.By evening, the Wednesday’s theory paper questions were also out in the market. The AITT is held by the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET) and it is conducted in the State by SCTEVT under the Industries Department. The AITT for Craftsmen under Craftsmen Training Scheme for Engineering and Non-Engineering Trades started on July 22. The SCTEVT came out with a notice immediately after Tuesday’s leakage stating that the re-examination for the paper will be held as soon as confirmation from DGET is received. A few hours later, the questions for theory paper (for both engineering and non-engineering trades) which was to be held at 8 am on Wednesday were leaked. The word of mouth publicity about the leakage saw the questions making it to the media houses too. The leaked questions were handwritten and Photostat copies did the rounds.Interestingly, the confidential examination materials reach the SCTEVT well ahead of the tests. On July 11, Controller of Examinations wrote to Principals of all ITIs and ITCs to receive the materials either in person or by deputing responsible persons.Four different dates were set for different districts to collect the materials. They were also asked to carry GI trunks with lock and key.
