Jammu: Lieutenant General R R Nimbhorkar, on Thursday assumed command of the White Knight Corps (16 corps) from Lieutenant General K H Singh.
In his farewell message, Lt Gen Singh complimented all ranks of White Knight Corps for their professionalism and dedication and thanked the civil administration for the excellent synergy with the Armed Forces.
Lt Gen Nimbhorkar was commissioned in 1979 into 15 Punjab and commanded the same Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir. He also commanded an Infantry Brigade along the Line of Control, followed by the command of the Counter Insurgency Force in the state.
Lt Gen Nimbhorkar has attended various career courses in India and abroad including the prestigious National Defence College. He has served in varied operational staff appointments inhis more than three decades of illustrious service. He was awarded the Sena Medal for gallantry while commanding a Company during operations in Drass and Bar to Sena Medal for distinguished service during his command of the Brigade.
He was also conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, COAS Commendation Card and C-in-C SFC Commendation Card for his dedication to duty. The General Officer has been the Colonel of the Punjab Regiment since March 1, 2015.
