Khandwa: It has been 17 days since villagers in Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh have been protesting in neck-deep water demanding compensation. Sources say that a major breakthrough is likely. Even as a Central fact-finding team reaches Khandwa on Monday, sources have indicated to CNN-IBN that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is likely to agree on the deduction of water level at the Omkareshwar Dam to 189 metre.
He is also likely to form a three-member committee that will look at all the demands of the protesting villagers over the next three months.
Sources add that he may agree on the rehabilitation of villagers displaced by the Omkareshwar Dam, who have been protesting in neck-deep water for over a fortnight.
