Mumbai: Traffic Restrictions In Some Areas On Lok Sabha Vote Counting Day
Raju Bhujbal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) for East Suburban Mumbai, stated that these measures were taken to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety during the vote counting process

The Mumbai Traffic Police announced on Monday that all vehicles are banned from the WEH service road (between Jogeshwari and Goregaon) from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm on June 4, Tuesday, to ensure smooth traffic flow during the vote counting at Nesco Exhibition Centre.

“In view of the vote counting at Nesco Exhibition Centre, to ensure smooth traffic, all vehicles on the WEH service road (service road between Jogeshwari & Goregaon) are banned from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm on 04/06/2024. Whereas the Main part of WEH will be normal for regular traffic,” the city traffic police said in a post on X.

The Western Express Highway North Bound Service Road from Jaycoach Junction to Nesco Gap Junction will be closed to all vehicles except those of the Election Commission, officers, and staff involved in the vote counting process, as per the official press release.

Detailing the traffic management strategies, the press note from the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Western Suburban Traffic, mentioned that the counting of votes for three constituencies at the Nesco Exhibition Centre is expected to attract a large number of candidates, supporters, media personnel, and emergency service vehicles, necessitating these stringent traffic measures.

Raju Bhujbal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) for East Suburban Mumbai, who is also in charge of Western Suburban Mumbai Traffic, said that these measures were taken to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety during the vote counting process, the release stated.

Alternate Routes To Follow:

  • Vehicles heading towards Nesco Gap via Jaycoach Junction on the Western Expressway North Bound Service Road should take a left turn at Nesco Gap via Jaycoach Junction Slip Road.
  • Traffic coming from Mrinaltai Gore Junction to Jaycoach Junction should take a right turn at Mrinaltai Gore Junction, make a U-turn above Mrinaltai Gore Bridge to head southbound to Mahananda Junction, and then proceed to the slip road to Jaycoach Junction.

The voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha election is set to take place on June 4 across the country.
