ALUVA: Amid thousands of devotees chanting ‘Amme Narayana Devi Narayana’, the 12-day Nadathurappu Mahotsavam began at Thiruvairanikulam Mahadeva Temple, 15 km away from Aluva, on Sunday.The doors of Sree Parvathy Devi shrine in Thiruvairanikulam Temple, popularly known as Sabarimala of women, will be kept open for darsan for only 12 days in a year. Special poojas at Sree Ramamoorthi Temple of Akavoor Mana, one of the Ooranmas, were held to mark the beginning of the festival traditionally. The seniors of Akavoor Mana, Narayanan Namboodiripad, Kunjanujan Namboodiripad, Ooranma representative A R Krishnan Namboodiripad handed over the Thiruvabharam, which included Thanka Golaka, Thanka Chandrakala, Thanka Crown, Thirumugham etc to Thiruvairanikulam Mahadeva Temple Trust president R Sarathchandran, secretary K G Dilipkumar, vice-president P V Mohanan, joint secretary P R Shajikumar and publicity convener P Narayanan, prior to commencement of the Thiruvabharana procession. Thousands of devoteestook part in the procession.Representatives of the temple Ooranmas (Brahmins who have the right over the temple) Akavoor, Vediyoor, Venmani Manas elevated Cherumukku Vaideekan Vasudevan Akkithirippad as the Samudhayam Thirumeni to supervise the festival rituals.Edanad Allimangalath Thankamani Brahminiamma, who has the traditional right to become Pushpini, the symbolic intimate friend of Goddess Parvathi, has ensured whether all representatives of Ooranmas are present in front of the Sreekovil. Pushpini and Samudhayam Thirumeni signaled to open the doors of Sreekovil of Parvathi Devi at 8 pm.Elaborate arrangements have been made for the devotees to have darsan of the Devi without any difficulties. KSRTC and private buses operated special services to the temple, which would be continued till the end of the festival. Parking areas for vehicles were provided. A contingent of police, medical service, fire and rescue services and ambulance were available in the festival area.The Devaswom office will work round -the-clock. The service of volunteers will be available.The facilities for darsan have been arranged from 4 am to 1.30 pm in the morning and 4 pm to 8.30 pm in the evening. The festival will conclude on January 19, at 8 pm.
