VELLORE: Trade unions will have a countrywide bandh on February 28 to protest against the centre’s economic policies. The announcement was made by D Raja, National Secretary of the Community party of India. He said the proposed stir was being organised by all trade unions cutting across political affiliations with support of the communist party. “People are demanding change,” he added. He said the recent case of corruption at the Department of Space was shocking. This country’s electorate has matured and they will not allow political parties to exploit them in the elections. The UP elections’ results will impact the national political scenario, he opined. On the increasing power cuts in Tamil Nadu he said the state, with the centre, should plan to fulfill the power demand. On the Koodankulam impasse, he said that while both the centre and state have formed expert committees on the issue, they should dispel fears about the power plant.
