BANGALORE: In a bid to enroll and involve students from rural and other backgrounds into the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Air Commodore S S Deshpande, Deputy Director General of NCC (Karnataka and Goa) announced that seven new Battalions would be set up in the state.
On Tuesday, he said that these new Army Battalions would facilitate the intake of over 20,000 cadets within the next five years. "This process shall be executed in a phase by phase manner", he shared and added that they would come up in Chitradurga, Haveri, North Bangalore, Ramnagaram, Mandya, Koppala and Chikkaballapur. Sharing the infrastructure facilities for the new set up, Deshpande said that the Revenue Department of the state government had instructed concerned District Commissioners (DC) to identify prospective land for this use.
