New jury to scooter-nise CIA leak case
As 18-month term of the previous grand jury expires, special counsel in CIA leak case says new jury to look into the investigation.

Washington: Special prosecutor investigating the CIA case, Patrick Fitzgerald, said further proceedings of the CIA case may be possible under a different grand jury. The 18-month term of the previous grand jury expired last month.

Fitzgerald said on Friday that his "investigation is continuing" and further proceedings would be carried out before a new grand jury.

A federal grand jury indicted Vice-President Dick Cheney's former Chief of Staff, I Lewis 'Scooter' Libby on charges of obstruction of justice, lying to investigators and perjury last month.

For the past two years, Fitzgerald has been trying to get at the bottom of who leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame, but has not elaborated the steps he is contemplating.

The prospect of a prolonged investigation seems likely to focus increased attention on the senior White House adviser, Karl Rove. Rove is still under investigation and could still be charged.
