CHENNAI: All Carnatic music lovers must have enjoyed Muthuswami Dikshitar’s krithis. But for Geetha Rajagopal, Executive Director, Sampradaya, who has authored Exploring the six facets of the genius — a book on  Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar, it has been a rediscovery of aspects of the legend composer in six different ways.“A composer, a vainika, a poet, a Sanskrit scholar, a philosopher and a spiritualist," listed out the author during the book launch event on Saturday at Raga Sudha hall, Mylapore. The legend composer has been her inspiration and part of growing years, she said. “My mother, who was a performing artiste, would stress on how Dikshithar's krithis and aalaapanaas need to be sung. I have listened to the Kamalamba krithis, my favourite raga being the Yaman Kalyani. He has also composed a lot in Hindustani ragas. When I worked on a 35-minute documentary on the  trinity music legends 11 years ago, I collected these facts," she said. With other primary sources, Geetha Rajagopal has taken a year to compile all the information and bring it out as a book. "This book also has photographs taken by me," added the author. The 88-page book, priced  at `200, has been published by Sri Shanmukhandanda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai. It is available at the  Carnatic Book Centre. The book was launched amid renditions of Dikshitar's krithis by Aruna Ranganathan who was accompanied by Ambika Prasad on the violin and Tanjore Subramaniam on the mridangam.
