HYDERABAD: The hopes of the the Road Transport Authority (RTA) to achieve an ambitious revenue growth rate of over 10 percent this financial year seem to have suffered a severe setback due to a fall in the sale of fourwheelers and the over onemonthlong Sakala Janula Samme, during which all the operations of the department, including revenuegenerating activities came to a standstill.
After achieving an impressive growth rate of 10 percent last year by realising a total revenue of `2,700, the department has aimed at a much higher growth this year. Accordingly, it has set a target of `2,112 cr till November 5 (Saturday), but could achieve only 1,670 cr - a growth of just three percent. During the same period last year the revenue collection was `1,619 crore. With not even 50 percent of the annual target of `3,600 crore reached during the first seven months of the year, which is the most productive period for the department as far as revenues are concerned, the chances of completing the revenue target during the remaining five months of the year look bleak.
