Shatagopam: The Copper Vessel That Calms Anger And Anxiety, Says Telangana Priest
In temples, Shatagopam should be taken properly as it helps in reducing the anger and anxiety in the body.

The devotees in Telangana visit the temple in the morning to worship god for a better life and happiness. In the majority of temples in Telangana, a shatagopam is used to bless devotees by putting it on their heads. It is a sacred, dome-shaped vessel used in Hindu temple rituals and poojas. It is traditionally made of copper, which is revered in Hindu traditions for its purity and conductivity. It is used for a variety of purposes including housing holy water, sprinkling holy water on devotees and performing abhishekam (ritual bath) on the deity. While talking to Local18, a temple priest Rudrabhatla Srikanth explains the benefits of shatagopam.

While talking about the importance of Shatagopam, priest Rudrabhatla Srikanth said that Shatagopam means secrecy.” When we desire God, we should desire those desires in our heart without letting anyone hear them.” said priest Rudrabhatla Srikanth. He suggests that Shatagopam should be taken from the head as it helps the man to stay away from anger and greed from the man.

The priest explains that when the metal touches the head then the power in the body is dispersed. According to the nature of the Shatagopam metal, the electric charge inserted in the body helps in reducing anger and anxiety, as per priest Rudrabhatla Srikanth. That’s why copper, bronze and silver are used to make Shathagopa. The priest said that there must be Vishnu’s feet on top of Shatagopam.

Special pujas by the temple priest. During the pujas, the priest performs arhana and gives aarti. Before offering Tirtha Prasadam, the temple priest blesses the devotees by putting a shatagopam on their heads. Priest Rudrabhatla Srikanth said positive energy is felt by everyone. “Even if it is for a while, the mind will be calm throughout the day after going to the temple because of its peaceful atmosphere there,” says Priest Rudrabhatla Srikanth. He says that Prasad is given in the temples along with Aarti as it carries their traditional importance.
