State to examine Mines Ministry view

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Friday said that it will examine the views of the Mines Ministry on the super normal profit being made by mines owners in the wake of rise in the rate of iron ore in international market.Chief secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik told mediapersons that the State Government will examine the letter from the Ministry of Mines in this regard. Responding to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s demand of imposing Mineral Resource Rent Tax (MRRT) on mines owners for making windfall profit over the iron ore, the UnionMinister of State of Mines Dinsha J Patel in a letter has stated that a closer look is required to assess the profits made.
