CHENNAI: The Officers’ Training Academy on Friday, organised a combined display that was the culmination of all club and adventure activities of a term. With cadets showing off their skills in horse-riding, martial arts, parasailing, kalaripayattu, aerobics and high horse (gymnastics). it was a visual treat. In the equestrian section, a performer hoisted the flag astride a horse, while two other performers gave a standing salute to the commandant with the OTA flag. They also demonstrated various show-jumping and tent pegging routines for the audience. A total of 22 cadets including seven-women, participated in the club activities during the winter term, while only a few participated in the demonstration. The OTA cadets also performed a spectacular show of aerobics. A team from the Madras Regiment performed Kalaripayattu, a traditional art form believed by historians to be one of the oldest existing martial arts in the world.
