The 2016 American Music Awards welcomed music’s best and brightest on Sunday to Los Angeles Microsoft Theater. While few of America's biggest performers including Justin Beiber, Ariana Grande, Drake, Rihanna were nominated, others like Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and John Legend were on the star-studded performance lineup.
Model Gigi Hadid and comedian Jay Pharoah hosted the event.
With 13 nominations Drake led the pack of artists and won Favourite artist, song and album in Rap/Hip Hop category. Justin Beiber was the star of the night as he took home Favourite male artist, video of the year and album (pop/rock) home. Ariana Grande was chosen as the artist of the year by the fans.
Pop singer Selena Gomez, 24, who surprised fans by making her first major public appearance since cutting short her world tour in August to deal with panic attacks and depression, won the best pop/rock female artist award.
