TV actors Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya’s European trip took a dark turn when they were robbed in Florence, Italy. The couple was celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary when thieves broke into their vehicle at a resort, stole their passports, cash, cards and other valuable items. The couple are currently in contact with the Indian embassy in Italy to resolve the situation. However, the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein star expressed frustration on social media and criticised the local police for handling their robbery case lightly. In a recent X post, the actress reached out to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, urging her to improve tourist safety.
In the social media post, Divyanka wrote, “Dear PM Ms Giorgia Meloni, we were passionately touring Italy until we got robbed. Reported to the police. But robberies are being taken so casually here that we have already lost hope along with our enthusiasm. How will I & my people ever gather courage to visit Italy again?” In the separate post, she added, “Our embassy is helping us, but how about Italy taking up responsibility for the safety of the tourists. It’s not only about us, but cumulatively all those who save up & spend a fortune to be here.”

When Divyanka Tripathi first announced the incident, the couple was struggling with money and the two were without passports. However, recent updates suggest that their situation has improved. Divyanka and Vivek are now working on obtaining a temporary certificate, which will allow them to travel back to India.
The actress, taking to her Instagram story, wrote, “Currently, our money situation is kind of sorted as we’ve got some help from a dear friend. We’ve replaced the rented car as it was thankfully insured. We’ll be heading towards the embassy in another City today to get the emergency certificate sorted. Also, we have not lost everything as was reported. We have a few things left that were in the boot of the car.”
Earlier, Vivek Dahiya shared their experience with Etimes and described how their day in Florence turned into a crisis. After arriving and planning a one day stay, they left their belongings in their car at a secure parking spot while checking out a property. When they returned, they found their car damaged, thieves just left behind old clothes and food, but took their valuable items. They attempted to report the crime to the local police, but they couldn’t help, as the area doesn’t have CCTV cameras. The police also mentioned they couldn’t visit the scene and offered no help after 6 pm. They tried contacting the embassy as well, but it was already closed for the day.
