The film industry is expanding extensively. We have been witnessing A list Bollywood stars trying their luck in Hollywood. From Irrfan Khan to Priyanka Chopra, Indian actors are slowly making their mark in Hollywood and being loved by the media. What more they are sharing screen space with popular actors from the west in mainstream films. Ali Fazal in Victoria and Abdul with Judi Dench, Deepika in XXX - Return of the Xander Cage with Vin Diesel, Priyanka Chopra with teen heartthrob Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch, marking big revolutions in the field. But did you know some of these momentous Hollywood films which are to release in 2017 have been shot in India. Several Hollywood blockbusters including James Bond and Mission Impossible have been shot in India in the past and now here's a look at films which are releasing in 2017 which have been shot in India.

Victoria and Abdul

The film is helmed by Stephen Frears, based on a novel written by Shrabani Basu. The lead role beside Ali is played by Judi Dench who plays the role of the queen who shared a relationship with Abdul, a member from her government. The British-Indian drama was shot extensively in Agra and Delhi.

Viceroy’s House

Gangs Of Wasseypur actress Huma Qureshi marks her international debut in ‘Viceroy's House’. Helmed by Gurinder Chadha, the film portrays a love story existing in the era of British rule in India. It was shot in Jodhpur for a solid eight weeks.

Love Sonia

Love Sonia is an upcoming 2017 film, produced by the Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi famed producer David Womackz. The film has Richa Chadha, Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpai, Anupam Kher, Rajkumar Rao, Sai Tamhankar and a new comer, Mrunal Thakur. This project has been in the making for a long time and finally set to release later this year.It is based around human trafficking and many of the scenes have been shot in Mumbai.

Lion

The globally hit film Lion, starring the Slumdog Millionaire actor, Dev Patel, along with Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, David Wenham has been earning a lot awards this season. The film is directed by Garth Davis, and is based on a true life incident and a novel written by Saroo Brierly, A Long Way Home . The film has been principally shot in Kolkata and Australia.

The Extraordinary Journey Of A Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Cupboard

Though the shoots for the movie got postponed for some reason, the film is said to be based on the bestselling eponymous novel, directed by Iranian filmmaker, Marjane Satrapi. The locations are expanded from Paris to India to Morocco and Italy. The film will include Dhanush, Uma Thurman and Alexandra Daddario.
