Bollywood has a history of real-life romances, with actors falling in love with their co-stars on the sets of films and eventually marrying. One such romance that has blossomed in the tinsel town is between Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza. The lovebirds are a match made in heaven. Not many would know that the star couple took a pledge in 2020 to donate their organs. Now, the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) shared a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter) expressing their gratitude to Riteish and Genelia for this noble act.
NOTTO wrote, “Thanks to Riteish Deshmukh & Genelia, the Bollywood star couple for pledging to donate their organs during the ongoing organ donation month of July. Their gesture will motivate others also to connect with the noble cause.”

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza had announced it on National Doctor’s Day in 2020. National Doctor’s Day is celebrated in honour of the birth and death anniversary of the second Chief minister of West Bengal and the great physician, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. It is marked on July 1.
Sharing the video on Instagram, the couple can be heard talking about their pledge of donating an organ. “There is no greater gift to someone than ‘The Gift Of Life’. @geneliad & me have pledged to donate our organs. We urge you all to join this great cause and be part of ‘The Life AfterLife’,” Riteish wrote.

On the professional front, Riteish Deshmukh is gearing to win over his audience with the fifth instalment of Housefull 5 alongside actor Akshay Kumar. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film will hit the silver screens in 2025. The actor also has Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2, Masti 4 with Vivek Oberoi, director Sanjay Gupta’s Visfot and a horror-comedy film Kakuda in the pipeline. Kakuda is helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar and it will be released on OTT platform ZEE5 on July 12.
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza first met on the sets of the film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003 and instantly became close friends. Eventually, their friendship blossomed into love and the duo exchanged the vows in 2012. The lovebirds are parents to sons Riaan and Rahyl.
