Tamil film Pasanga, written and directed by Pandiraj, is remembered as one of the most memorable films from 2009. Pasanga gained accolades from the critics and the audience for brilliant acting prowess by the actors, direction and other interesting aspects. Another notable aspect of this film was the hit acting credentials of the child artists who won appreciation for their impeccable acting skills. One of the artists named Asathiya Siruvan also received the praise of the cine-goers with his character named Mani. He is now all-grown-up and his recent photo is currently going viral on social media. Not much is known about him and no information regarding any of his films is either in the public domain.
Pasanga has bagged many prestigious awards including the National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards South, Vijay Awards and Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards. The ensemble cast of this film starred Vimal, Kishore Shanthi Dhinakaran, Vega Tamotia, Kishore Kumar G and others. There is an interesting story about how the Vaagai Sooda Vaa actor got selected for this film. Initially, actor Ramakrishnan was offered a lead role by Pandiraj, who was his colleague when they were assistants to the filmmaker Cheran. As Ramakrishnan was occupied with the shoot of Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum, Vimal was roped in for the role instead. He loved to be a part of this film and shared his experience of working in it in an earlier interview with a portal named Galatta.
He said, “The movie is basically about letting kids enjoy their childhood. Parents are either too strict with kids or too lenient. The movie is about finding the right mix of strictness and leniency. And in the process, we had lots of fun,”
Pasanga was followed by a sequel named Pasanga 2, again written and directed by Pandiraj. This film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and the Zee 5. Suriya, Amala Paul, Nishesh, Delhi Ganesh and others acted in this film. The audience loved the film for its premise, i.e.- the problems faced by children suffering from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
