Ruslaan Box Office Day 1: Aayush Sharma’s Film Starts Slow, Earns Only Rs 60 Lakh
Aayush Sharma's Ruslaan released on Friday, April 26.

Aayush Sharma’s highly anticipated film Ruslaan released on Friday, and has failed to reach even the Rs 1 crore mark on it’s first day. According to a report in Sacknilk, the film minted only Rs 60 lakh in the box office.

Helmed by Karan Lalit Butani, the film also stars Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, Jagapathi Babu and Vidya Malvade. The report also stated that, the action entertainer had an overall occupancy of 6.42 percent in the Hindi belts.

Sancilk.com also reported that the film had an occupancy of 5.01 per cent during the morning shows on its first day. It increased to over 7.0 per cent in the afternoon and then to 6.14 per cent during the evening. The night shows had an occupancy of 7.54%. The film also saw the maximum audiences in theatres of Chennai followed by Jaipur and Bangalore.

News18 Showsha gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote, “The film revolves around Ruslaan, who sees his father being killed in an encounter after he’s accused of planting bombs in a school in Mumbai. In the same encounter, his mother also dies. An orphan Ruslaan gets bullied at school for being the son of a terrorist and eventually gets adopted by anti-terrorism squad chief, Sameer Singh, and his wife. As he grows up, his foster father cautions him about not picking up arms or join the forces but pursue his passion for music.”

Speaking of Aayush’s performance, the review added, “Aayush gives the film his all and yet he’s effortless. There’s a certain kind of charm and restraint underneath all that rugged rawness and he deserves brownie points for the same. However, his performance in bits and parts also remind you of Salman. There’s a heavy hangover there that may sometimes rob him off his individuality.”

“In short, it’s the performance by the primary cast that elevates this otherwise messy narrative. Ruslaan bears a testament to Aayush’s growth as an actor as he ably manages to put up a one-man show, rather effortlessly. It might not be a flawless film that keeps you glued but it definitely makes for an entertaining watch (for the most part). If you don’t rely too much on logic and rationality, you might actually appreciate its absurdity.”
