Shah Rukh Khan is ready to experiment with a non-romantic/drama genre. The actor revealed he is waiting for filmmakers to offer him a comedy or horror film. SRK, who pushed the envelope with two action movies last year, is ready to take on more unconventional roles.
Speaking podcast for Locarno Film Festival, Locarno Meets, Shah Rukh admitted, “God and the audience have been too kind for me for the past 35 years and I feel like I have a choice that I can make. So, every 6-8 months, I wake up with the thought that I want to do a horror film and I hope somebody offers me a horror film. And if not that, I have a plan B—let’s do comedy.”
His interest comes after reports that he might star in a film with Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik. It is claimed that there SRK is in talks with Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan for a major film. A source close to the development told Pinkvilla, “Shah Rukh Khan has met almost every filmmaker in the last few months, and heard the ideas they had for him. But nothing really excited him. Now, Shah Rukh Khan is in talks with the Stree 2 team of Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan.”
The source added, “Amar and Dinoo have a big-ticket adventure film for SRK, and are exploring the possibilities of a collaboration. It would not be a part of the Stree Universe, but mark the beginning of a new one. Two to three meetings have taken place, and Shah Rukh Khan is yet to take-a-decision on the same. More discussions are expected to take place in the months to come by, before he takes a call on doing or not doing the film. The Maddock Film aside, SRK is also continuously in touch with Raj and DK for their comic action thriller, as he has connected to the subject and wants to do a film with them, subject to a little rework on the loopholes. Apart from the adventure film and the comic action thriller, he is in talks with some makers from the South for action films, but there’s nothing locked.”
Meanwhile, in the same interview, Shah Rukh opened up about the reason behind making two action movies. “I didn’t really work for two years during Covid and I was waiting for someone to give me an action film. During that time, no one was really making films but people would come with some offers. And then a couple of people succumbed. My friend, Aditya Chopra gave me Pathaan.” The film released in January 2023 and recorded a massive box office collection, doubling up as the first of many blockbusters of the year.
