US Ambassador Eric Garcetti Recalls Meeting Shah Rukh Khan: 'Everybody In My Office Went Nuts'

Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly one of the biggest superstars not only in India but globally. His popularity transcends borders, with fans from all over the world admiring him, while he always shows his appreciation in return. Beyond his on-screen charisma, people also admire him for who he is as a person. Recently, during a meeting between SRK and U.S. Envoy Eric Garcetti, Garcetti couldn’t contain his joy and satisfaction after meeting the Bollywood icon.

In a recent interview with the news agency ANI, Eric Garcetti reminisced about his initial weeks in India and his encounter with Shah Rukh Khan. He shared, “I think when I visited Shah Rukh Khan my first couple of weeks here, we talked about cricket because, of course, he’s involved as a cricket owner. He owns part of the Los Angeles team. Everybody in my office went nuts,” Garcetti recalled.

“They’re like, oh, my God, did you know who you met? I said, yeah, Shahrukh Khan. But I didn’t realise the level of love that there was across the country,” the U.S. envoy reflected to the news agency.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan made his comeback to the big screen in 2023 with Pathaan and left everyone completely impressed. The film was widely loved by all and was even a hit at the box office. However, if a recent report is to be believed, Yash Raj Films is now planning to begin working on Pathaan 2 very soon.

As reported by Peeping Moon, Shah Rukh Khan is likely to begin shooting for Pathaan 2 by the year’s end. Unlike the first Pathaan film, the sequel will not be directed by Siddharth Anand. However, the director who will be replacing Anand for Pathaan 2 has not been finalised as of now.

“Aditya Chopra is strategically choosing the directors for each YRF spy universe film and has never repeated directors for its sequel movies, as is evident from the Tiger and War sequels. The tradition continues with Pathaan 2 as well, with Siddharth Anand stepping aside for a new director to offer a fresh perspective to Shah Rukh’s swashbuckling spy character,” a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed.

“While the director for the sequel hasn’t been finalized, plans are underway to take the project on the floor by the end of this year,” the insider added.

It should also be noted that even though Siddharth Anand will not be directing Pathaan 2, this would not mark the end of his partnership with YRF. The filmmaker will soon helm Tiger Vs Pathaan.

Released in January 2023, Pathaan marked Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback to the big screen after his 2018 movie Zero. Pathaan also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead. The film received an overwhelming response from all and earned over Rs 1000 crores at the box office.

Pathaan 2 will be the eighth film in the YRF spy universe after Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR are currently working on War 2 following which YRF will have an untitled Spy Universe movie with Alia Bhatt.
