Farah Khan Recalls SRK Took 6 Retakes For Spitting Scene In Main Hoon Na: 'He Couldn't Stop...'
Farah Khan said that Shah Rukh Khan couldn't stop laughing when Satish Shah would spit on him during the filming of Main Hoon Na.

Ace choreographer Farah Khan turned to directing films with Main Hoon Na in 2004, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao among others. The film became a mega-hit at the box office and is one of the most talked about films directed by Farah. Recently, she shared some unknown anecdotes from the film, including how it took Shah Rukh multiple takes to film the spitting scene with Satish Shah.

Talking to Maniesh Paul on his podcast, Farah said that Shah Rukh couldn’t stop laughing while filming the scene with Satish and took five or six takes to shoot the sequence. She said, “The Shah Rukh Khan and Satish ji scene was very difficult to shoot. We used to make Satish Ji drink water and he would spit on Shah Rukh in that scene. We also kept a backlight to show it clearly. Shah Rukh couldn’t stop laughing in that take and he spent five-six takes laughing. Then I told him, ‘Karle na shot, he is spitting on you.’ This was also pre-covid so this was fine.”

Satish Shah had told Bollywood Bubble earlier that it took Shah Rukh about eight takes to film the same spitting scene. He said, “Then I got really angry and said after this I won’t do it. Now everyone is laughing on the set and we went in for the 8th take, he laughed again and that is when we had to put Zayed’s insert in the film. So it was very difficult to put a straight face and do such scenes.”

Satish added that sometimes he would enunciate so much while saying his dialogues that the water would come out of his mouth as a spray, leading to another laughter riot. The veteran actor also said that he had started calling himself the “spitting cobra” after doing that role.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, Jawan. The Atlee directorial was released in theatres on Thursday and crossed the Rs. 100 mark on its first day itself, becoming the highest opener in Bollywood.
