Karan Johar Says He Wanted To Remove Dharma's Logo from 'Kill'; Here's Why
Karan Johar wanted to remove Dharma's logo from Kill because the intro music did not suit the film's overall character.

Karan Johar’s film Kill recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh, the film is a joint production venture between Karan’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. The film marks the debut of Lakshya and also features Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala in prominent roles. The film was well received by the international audience. Karan said in a recent interview that he wanted to remove Dharma’s all-too-familiar logo for this particular film.

Speaking to Film Companion, Karan said, “The only feedback when I saw the final cut of Kill… I was like Guneet, I have one recommendation. She asked what, and I said, ‘Can you remove the logo of Dharma? Can we do something else? This (Dharma’s intro music) is not going with Kill’.”

Karan, who is mostly known for his romantic, family entertainers, switched genres with Kill. Talking about his love for action thrillers, Karan said, “Like, John Wick is one of my favorite action franchises, and I love Raid. People would not associate me with that kind of cinema because they think I’m think kind of person.”

“So one part of me is the (sings Dharma’s intro music) and the other part of me is like slasher films, like blood and gore. I’m like, it gives me a major trip like when I watched those movies. So, producing Kill seemed very organic to me,” he added.

Dharma Productions had earlier taken to their Instagram handle to share the cast and crew’s photos from the premiere. Lakshya and Raghav were in attendance while Tanya remained absent. The rest of the cast and crew looked dapper in coordinated outfits in hues of black and cream.

Lakshya was supposed to make his Bollywood debut with Dostana 2 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. The film reportedly got shelved after some issues arose between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan.

Meanwhile, choreographer turned actor Raghav Juyal was last seen in Salman Khan’s action comedy Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan earlier this year.
