Akshay Kumar recently took to his social media to celebrate Engineers Day. The actor will soon be essaying the role of Jaswant Singh Gill in his next movie Mission Raiganj. While he portrays an enginner in reel life, the actor shared that he could never imagine studying hard to become one in real.
Sharing a black and white photo of Jaswant Singh Gill, he wrote, “Happy #EngineersDay. I could never even imagine myself studying hard to be an engineer. But then I got an opportunity to play a brave, intelligent engineer like Jaswant Singh Gill ji in #MissionRaniganj. माँ बाप की इच्छा पूरी हो गई ????

Earlier last week, the makers dropped the teaser of Mission Raiganj. The teaser promises that the film will be a thrilling ride, packed with suspense, courage, and the determination to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges.

It reveals how the film is inspired by a real-life incident and presents the heroic act of the late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill who led Bharat’s coal mine rescue mission. Singh (portrayed by Akshay Kumar) played a significant role in rescuing all the surviving miners trapped inside a flooded coal mine in Raniganj in November 1989 which is documented to be the world’s largest and successful rescue mission against all odds.

Besides Akshay, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra in the lead. The film also marks their second collaboration after the 2019 film Kesari.
Mission Raniganj is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Ajay Kapoor. The film is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. It will be released in theatres on October 6, 2023.
